The Art of Sourcing Ingredients: A BEVERAGE MASTERS' Story

Once upon a time, there was a beverage master named Tim. He and his company Drink X were renowned for crafting the most exquisite drinks that would tantalise your taste buds and leave you wanting more.





However, Tim faced a great challenge in his line of work - ingredient sourcing. Many people would come to Tim and ask him where he sourced his ingredients from - the fruits, the juices, the spices, and everything in between. And Tim would always reply, "It's quite hard to find the right ingredients when you're doing product development."


Tim had learned that there were two things to look out for in sourcing ingredients. The first was to find readily available ingredients that would allow him to get the flavour profile right. He urged people not to go overboard with trying out samples from different places, as it was costly and time-consuming.


The second thing Tim recommended was to go for flavours or juices of concentrated natures. He said there were a whole range of companies in the world that specialised in producing these concentrated flavours or juices, such as Dohler out of Germany, which boasted a huge array of concentrated juices.


Indeed, there was a market for ingredient suppliers in Australia, but it was relatively small compared to the rest of the world. That's because most of the companies that produced flavours and colours were worldwide companies with extensive research and development establishments.


Tim had learned that sourcing ingredients was a journey - a journey that required trial and error, patience, and persistence, much like crafting the perfect drink.


The key was to seek out the best-suited companies to provide the necessary ingredients for his craft.
